In 2026, Tokyo is rocked by a series of increasingly dangerous crimes, including a kidnapping in which the perpetrators threaten to bomb the city unless a ransom is delivered—and inexplicably choose veteran detective Shunsaku Aoshima as the courier. At the same time, a string of murders involving 3D-printed guns leads to the theft of a deadly virus from one of the victims, followed by a threat to release it across Tokyo.
